Basket Update Monday January 25th

I've been making lots of these baskets...clothesline rope, variegated thread, and the zigzag setting on my sewing machine.

This photo was taken last Wednesday at the Tacoma Lakes Quilters workshop.  At that point I had completed five baskets of various sizes.  I've made at least one more since then and enlarged the smallest basket to include several rows of fabric-wrapped line.  I've decided that I don't particularly like the fabric-wrapped pieces other than as small accents.  I'm finding this a lot of fun to do.  I've ordered a couple of books to expand my knowledge and to teach me some more basket styles.  This is a great winter sewing project...creating baskets to sell at the fall craft fairs and for presents.

Basket Project Snow Day Saturday, January 16

This morning I decided to see if I could teach myself to make a basket using my sewing machine, variegated thread, and clothesline.  I'd seen a video online last week and bought my clothesline the other day.  In under an hour I had used all but 6 inches of the 50' clothesline and most of a spool of thread, rewinding the bobbin at least four times.  I even figured out how to make a loopy handle.  And  I made this in less than an hour!
