Altered Pages Blog Challenge for March: Lavender Thoughts

When I first heard about the challenge, the song "Lavender's Blue" popped into my head and became the focal point for this project.  This is a 12X12 piece on bookboard that sits on a black metal easel.

Materials used:

  • 12X12 Memory Box paper from the Viola collection
  • downloaded and printed copy of "Lavender's Blue", illustrated sheet music
  • scraps of other prints also from the Memory Box Viola collection
  • olive green and lavender cardstock, The PaperCut
  • Violet Gingham paper, Memory Box
  • images from these Altered Pages collage sheets--Sweet Children; Blue Collage
  • Memory Box dies--98321 Chloe Stem; 98378 Penne Frame; 98373 Whimsical Flourish; 98312 Fancy Blossoms; large scalloped border (discontinued)
  • PoppyStamps dies--839 Lorelai Leaf; 840 Lorelai Leaf Outline
  • Sizzix dies--Decorative Swirls
  • Prima 3-D Flower
  • bouquet, embossed white scalloped trim, and "with love" cut from a vintage card
  • green gingham bow
  • lavender gem stones and white pearls
  • circle punch, scalloped circle punch, heart punch
  • K&CO Brenda Walton Juliana Frame
  • Lavender Branch stamp, Stampington & Company
  • Prisma colored pencils
  • metal Crown charm
  • tape runner; Zig glue pen; adhesive squares; pop dots; mini Glue Dots
At some point this may go into a deep frame or shadow box along with some of my hand-stamped muslin bags of lavender and some lavender sprigs.  Right now it sits on its easel on the table next to my bed where my linens are lavender gingham and the several quilts are lavender and purple patterns.
