Dad has spent the weekend working on a moose scarecrow to be entered into competitions at Monmouth Fair and Litchfield Fair. The base is an old Hoover vaccuum cleaner--really heavy so the whole thing won't topple over. Attached to that is part of a lamp base. The body is a lion costume Mom made years and years ago which I sewed over the lamp base. The head was once a papier mache donkey's head--a little brown paint and antlers made from foam core helped with the transition to moose. Dad painted some garden claws black for the "hands" and the legs fit into a tall pair of Dad's boots.
Guess we'll name him Bullwinkle. Should I put a squirrel on his shoulder wearing an aviator cap???
