MOJO Monday Challenge 339 Tall & Skinny

The MOJO Monday Challenge this week, no. 339, is a sketch based on Tall & Skinny.

I used paper 3.5 X 11, scored it at 5.5, and made a top-folded card.

I rounded the top corners.  I added papers from my scrap box--a journaling square at the top, two vertical strips, the oval punched out clock piece.  Then I punched out the tiny green flowers and layered them on top of the flowers in the printed strip on the right.  I punched out three small circles and added those at the top left.  To finish this, I die cut a bow from coordinating striped paper using a Memory Box die and placed it against the clock oval after I drew on dashed "sewn" lines.

For this challenge I used Memory Box dies--bicycle and clouds--and a piece of ribbon that looked like a road:

To make this a flatter card, I could remove the bow and just have the ribbon road.  To make it a one layer card, I could inset the die cuts for a smooth surface.  If I removed the ribbon, I'd add a die cut or stamped sun peeking out from under the clouds.

CSI Case File No. 116: A Band of Brothers

A BAND OF BROTHERS

Scheme:  used all five colors--black, greenish gray, teal, white, bold red
Evidence:  music elements(stickers, brads, song titles and lyrics); circles;
metal (the musical brads); labels (song titles made with Dymo Label-maker)
Testimony:  I used song titles from WWI as the inspiration for my journaling.
I also made journal entries in several places on the page.

Soldiers wrote their own lyrics (and music sometimes) which they sang and played to pass the time or while marching into war.  (written on the white diagonal stripes)

Civilians wrote and sang songs to support or oppose the war effort.  (written on the teal diagonal stripes)

CSI/Color Stories Inspiration Case File No. 115 Challenge

testimony:  I used my imagination since these are "instant relatives" purchased at auction.
I named them and gave them their ages in the Memories box.  I left room to write a story about these three children having their first formal photograph taken in the city.

DCC326 Challenge @ Repeat Impressions: Things with Wings

This week's Designer's Choice Challenge 326 at the blog for Repeat Impressions is:  Things with Wings.  I used the waterlilies and dragonflies stamp from Repeat Impressions as my focal image.  I stamped it in Archival Tide Pool ink and clear embossed before watercoloring with Distress Inks and a waterbrush.  I cut out the circle  and mounted it on Memory Box Bluebird Moroccan paper and then on Memory Box Bluebird Dots paper.  I layered the same papers for the sentiment block at the bottom of the card, adding some holes and silver cord.  All of this is put together on a blush pink notecard.

CAS-ology Week 88 Challenge: Lucky

The CAS-ology Week 88 Challenge is LUCKY.  This is a clean and simple card challenge.  I used a set of "Mechanical Fanfare" Letters from Recycled Rubber Art Stamps and the Gearworks Border and Mini Gears dies from Memory Box cut from gold mirror card.  The letters were stamped in Gold Delicata Ink on a white notecard and clear embossed for extra shine.  I've included some close-up shots to show the shimmer more and the stamp details.  Kind of a steampunk lucky card!

PaperCrafter's Corner Magazine Monday Challenge Week 45

Here's the inspiration for the Week 45 Magazine Monday Challenge at PaperCrafter's Corner:

This made me think about the way I camp in the Maine woods.  I made a 12X12 piece that could go in a scrapbook, although I am not a scrapbooker.  I most likely will place this against some mat board and prop it on an easel on the fireplace mantel.  With snow and ice still on the ground, and more snow in the forecast for tomorrow and later in the week, I won't be camping anytime soon!

CAS on Sunday Challenge #29

Challenge #29 One Layer Wonder on the Clean And Simple on Sunday blog.

I decided to make a card using the inlaid die cut technique that really then does make a one layer card.  And I think the technique is a wonder!

and then cut again from Memory Box Distressed Dots Bluebird Paper

I used typing paper with lots of tape runner secured to the back of the card front
and then popped the pretty papers into the empty glue-y spots.

Here's a side view of the card and you can see that by inlaying the die cuts you get a perfectly flat one layer card!

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Transparent

The theme for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is TRANSPARENT.
I chose to make a window using a PoppyStamps die and clear acetate behind it and created a rainy day view out the window on Memory Box Distressed Dots Bluebird paper using Memory Box and PoppyStamps clouds and raindrops dies.  I also used a Balzer Rain stencil on the front of the card with Hero Arts Cornflower Blue Ink to further the rain theme.  The sentiment is from Memory Box.  The accessories are a table lamp base die from Poppystamps repurposed as a vase full of Memory Box Tulips (cut from a border stamp in several papers and layered).  And I just had to add the Memory Box Umbrella.  Here are several views:
