The Woodshed Has Moved!

Recently I rented a space in Hallowell from Lexi Joyall at The Rusticators Emporium, 151 Water Street.  This was a great decision for me to join an innovative young entrepreneur and a few select vendors in an antiques/vintage/and more enterprise in a town that once was Maine’s antiques capitol.  This great old building has brick walls and tin ceilings and once was home to Berdans Antiques and then Boynton’s Market.  It is next to Hallowell Clay Works, near Slate’s Bakery.

Because I made this decision I was asked to leave The Vault at Freckle Salvage Company along with other vendors who also had space there and also decided to rent space at The Rusticators Emporium.  This seems unusual in that many of the Vault vendors have retail spaces in other shops or sell their items in ways other than at The Vault.  I am happy to leave under these circumstances.  This weekend will be my last sale at The Vault and my vendor space there is quite empty.  I hope most everything there sells because then there will be less for me to move out.

I love my quirky space at The Rusticators Emporium!!!  I have divided it into three tiny areas and have had great fun arranging things.  There are my usual vintage goods along with a selection of my art collages and notecards.

Opening day is today!!! And I can’t wait to see how it goes. Please come visit us Wednesdays through Sundays,10-5.

Wildflower Silhouette Quilted Pieces

These are three wildflower silhouettes that I've been working on for awhile.  They are still works in progress as I intend to add more hand and machine stitching to them.  I also have to decide whether they will be pillow tops, wallhangings, or something else.  I am thinking I may do more with other wildflowers--lupine maybe next.

Cards featuring a new stamp/die set from Memory Box exclusively for Simon Says Stamp

These are two of the cards I made for the Memory Box blog--Outside the Box--that feature a stamps/die set from Memory Box for Simon Says Stamp for their Stamptember event.  Today is the first time this set is being shown--on the Memory Box Blog, on the Simon Says Stamp Blog, Instagram, Facebook...Everywhere, including here on my blog.

The Memory Box Design Team is so excited to announce that we are participating in the Simon Says Stamp Stamptember event.  We have partnered with Simon to release an exclusive stamp and die set that will be available while supplies last.  We encourage you to visit the Simon Says Stamp blog to see lots of ideas for using the stamp set.  Hopefully you will be as excited about the new set as we are!

And here's one more card I made!

For all three cards, I stamped the image in VersaClair Shady Lane ink on off-white cardstock.  I used a waterbrush to pick up ink colors from Distress ink pads to paint it in a variety of fall tones.  I then cropped the images and mounted them on fall papers and then onto off-white notecards.  I also stamped and painted images from the set on the envelopes.

Indigo Shibori Dyeing this past week

This is what I did on Wednesday and Saturday.  Resists are created by stitching, folding and pleating, binding/wrapping with thread, etc. on plain white muslin fabric before dipping it into the indigo vat.

Way too much fun!
Now that I know how to do this I can't wait to set up my own dye vat at home!!!

Over two days I made about 20 different pieces!!!

my latest venture--bookboard cards/display pieces for St. Patrick's Day etc.

I've been working on some new projects recently using bookboard as the backing for some double-sided cards that are also display pieces.  I'm going to sell these with small easels and also a large magnet which can be added to the back.

First are these smaller bees and butterfly cards and one with some "instant relatives".

These are the larger ones I made for St. Patrick's Day.

Will pick up easels in the next day or so and will shop these around to consign or sell outright to one of the local shops.  Have already started thinking about Easter/spring ones and gathering materials. I really love them and almost hate to sell them.
