AND I AM THE WINNER: Red Heart, Golden Festival Altered Pages Blog Challenge

Update 3/4/13  I AM THE WINNER OF THIS CHALLENGE ON THE ALTERED PAGES BLOG AND WILL BE RECEIVING A PACKAGE OF GOODIES IN THE MAIL SHORTLY!
Year of the Snake 2013 Calendar, cover

Planning ahead for the Year of the Snake and the February challenge, I ordered the Snake Charmers collage sheet from Altered Pages.  When the package arrived it included the QuickKutz Heart die.  Once the challenge was posted, I knew I had to use both for this project.

Because there were 13 snake charmers on the collage sheet, I decided to make a calendar for the year of the snake.  I used some chipboard 5X7 rectangles for the base of each page, and covered each one with a variety of red papers.  I found a Chinese calendar online and printed it out on offwhite cardstock.  I then spent some time with the Cuttlebug, my Memory Box dies, Bo Buuny 6X6 pages from the Serenity Collection, and gold mirror paper.  I punched a hole in the top corner of each page and held them together with a large black rubber book ring from 7 Gypsies.  I embellished pages with pearls, gold gems, and red glitter heart brads as well as a few China stickers.

Repeat Impressions DCC213 ~ Favorite Repeat Impressions Stamp.

Here's a card I created for a challenge at the Repeat Impressions blog.
Repeat Impressions Favorite Stamp:  5121 H  Moose (2010)

This is the stamp I go to whenever I need a masculine card.

Materials Used:

  • kraft notecard--Memory Box
  • Camp-a-lot In the Woods paper--Bo Bunny
  • off-white cardstock--scrap
  • Moose 5121H stamp--Repeat Impressions
  • Chestnut Roan ink--ColorBox Chalk
  • wood tree--KaiserCraft
  • Distress Stains in Vintage Photo, Antique Linen, Wild Honey--Tim Holtz/Ranger
  • Twill tape, "The Great Outdoors"

Update, Saturday the 26th

Yesterday was a busy day:  Herceptin treatment at the Oncology Center; lunch at Mr. Bagel; shopping at Michaels, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, and LLBean.

I am feeling soooo much better that I really need to pay attention to not trying to do so much!  I still get worn out easily.

Today and Monday I'm teaching classes at Your Maine Stamper--winter cards and valentines.  Here are a couple of the cards we'll be making:

I've also been busy crafting my own stuff--repurposing cigar boxes, a chipboard flipbook calendar, a CD box calendar, and gathering materials for a mixed media clock piece and one on chipmunks.  I have so many ideas in my head that I just want to create stuff all day long!
